Hamptons Shingle Style
Located in Southampton’s historic district, the design for this project honors the local vernacular while suiting contemporary life for a couple, their young adult children, and a host of family and friends. Situated on a long, narrow site, the house is placed near the street to maximize the rear of the property with a pool and pool house, entertaining barn, potting shed and expansive gardens. The house has an indoor-outdoor quality, with deep porches around the perimeter and supersized French doors across the rear facade.
The loft-like kitchen and family room, with three exposures, creates a sun-drenched space. The house, while firmly rooted in tradition, offers an ease well-suited to summer gatherings and entertaining.
